This Land Was Saved for You and Me: The generational baton passes that created America’s public lands
The Falmouth Memorial Library and Ocean View at Falmouth are pleased to welcome native son Jeffrey Ryan to discuss his latest book; This Land Was Saved for You and Me. “This Land” follows the arc of the creation and protection of America’s public parks through a series of rather remarkable inter-generational handoffs that began in the 1860s and continue to this day. In fact, the genius of these conservation giants was in both identifying the need to establish and manage lands for the public good and identifying those most capable of nurturing and growing the concept in the decades to come.
Published by Stackpole Books in September 2022, This Land Was Saved for You and Me is Jeffrey Ryan’s seventh book about exploring America’s hiking trails and conservation history. He will have many of his titles available for purchase and signing after the event, which is open to the public.
