This Land Was Saved for You and Me – Book Signing Event – Sherman’s of Portland

Maine Author Jeffrey Ryan will be at the Portland location of Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shops to greet customers and sign his newest book; This Land Was Saved for You and Me on October 29, 2023, from 1-3 p.m.

“This Land” tells the story of the establishment of America’s public lands through the perspective of the growing awareness that our country’s resources were not infinite and the multi-generational efforts that allowed our public parks, national forests, and wilderness areas to be created and maintained for the benefit of all. More than a historical narrative, Ryan’s book explores the critical handoffs that occurred between those who saw a promising future, carried that prospect forward, then, when the time was right, handed the reigns to the next generation to nurture and carry forth in kind — a practice that has continued to this day.
