The Maine Literary Awards is an annual competition sponsored and coordinated by the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance. Nominations are open to all Maine residents (including part-time seasonal residents). The statewide
competition is for published books, as well as drama, short works (either published or unpublished), and student writing. Maine writers may self-nominate, or be nominated by others.
I am thrilled that my book, Blazing Ahead: Benton MacKaye, Myron Avery and the Rivalry that Built the Appalachian Trail has been named a 2018 Maine Literary Awards finalist out of this year’s “incredibly large and rich pool of submissions!” as stated by MPWA.
As always, the author gets most of the attention, but I am so grateful for everyone at Appalachian Mountain Club Books for helping to create a book worthy of notice. Their editors, proofreaders and designers pitched in mightily and it shows.
Thank you.
